Beginners Stained Glass
5 weeks - 15 hours total

Session 1

 Thursday Afternoons
July 15 - August 12
12:30 - 3:30 pm

The beginner stained glass course is designed for individuals who have little or no experience working with stained glass.  Students will learn how to prepare a pattern, transfer a pattern to glass, cut and grind stained glass, apply copper foil, solder and "finish" their piece.

Students will be provided with materials, use of tools and instructions to complete a 8" X 10" hanging stained glass panel

'Mini' Beginner Stained Glass

This course is offered as a one day introduction to stained glass and is designed for individuals with little or no experience working with glass. Students will be provided with materials, use of tools, and instruction to complete a suncatcher.

Mosaic Stepping Stone

Session 4

Students will learn how to prepare a pattern, transfer a pattern to glass, cut & grind stained glass, prepare a stepping stone mold, mix and pour cement and how to 'finish' their stone.

Students will be provided with materials, patterns, use of tools and instructions to complete one 14" round or 16" hexagonal stepping stone.

 Introduction to Glass Fusing

This course introduces participants to the basics of glass fusing in a kiln.  Students will create a 6' by 6' fused glass tile which may be hung as a suncatcher or, for those experienced in stained glass, incorporated into a stained glass panel.

 Intermediate Glass Fusing

This course is offered as an extension of "Introduction to Glass Fusing", whereby students will be given the opportunity to create a larger project such as a fused bowl or plate.  Projects will typically involve a 2-step firing process.  The cost for materials will depend on the type and amount of glass required for a specific project (average $25 -$35).

Fused Dichroic Glass Pendant

Create beautiful fused glass pendants accented with eye-catching dichroic glass.  This course includes glass and materials to create two lovely pendants using dichroic glass.  In addition, students may create another two pendants without dichroic. Four silver or gold-plated bails are included for hanging your pendants.

COST $50

 

 'Glass on Glass' Mosaic Window

Students will create a stained glass mosaic on a salvaged window provided by the student. A variety of pattern ideas and glass will be made available; as well as other necessary supplies such as adhesive and grout. If you wish to 'finish' your window frame (i.e., sand, stain or paint), it is advised that this be done prior to the start of the class.

COST  $95

 

  Fused Picture in Glass - Intermediate

Session 17

Monday, July 5
11 am - 5 pm

 

Create a lovely fused glass scene using a variety of fusing glass, frit, pebbles, stringers, etc and then have it mounted in a picture frame.

All materials, as well as the glass frame are included. Students are encouraged to bring their own glass cutter and pliers.

COST $95

Glass Whirls Intermediate

Session 18

Monday, July 26
10 am - 5 pm

 

Create a unique 3-dimensional stained glass "whirl" containing a "theme" of your choice, such as birds, butterflies, sail boat or lighthouse. Course includes cutting the "whirl" (outer rings), building the internal components and assembly of all pieces.

Students are required to purchase their own glass and materials such as copper foil and solder.

COST $55 + materials

 

Panel Lamps Intermediate

Friday, August 6 & 20
6 - 9 pm

 

This class is aimed at students with basic stained glass experience. A selection of patterns will be made avialable prior to the start of the class. Students are required to purchaes their own glass and other required materials such as copper foil and solder.

Mosaic Table

Come and spend a relaxing day creating your own stained glass mosaic table. Table top and wrought iron legs are included with this class; as well as stained glass, adhesive and grout.

Whether you have an idea for a design or no idea at all - we will help you come up with a pattern suited to your experience (or lack thereof) with stained glass and/or mosaic work.

  Mosaic Garden Plaque

Create a unique, one -of-a-kind garden plaque centered around a sculptured concrete "face" created by local artisian Doug McDonald of Rue Royale. A variety of colorful stained glass mosaic piences add color and creativilty to this lovely piece which may be hung indoors or out to add a fun and whimsical touch to your home. All material are included in the course fee.

'A CUSTOM CLASS'

If you have an idea for a class, or would like to take a class that is offered in this brochure BUT at a different time, please talk to us about customizing a class for you. A "Custom Class" is perfect for a night (or day) out with friends and family or as a way to meet new people.  We may also be able to incorporate it as part of a special celebration.
